About Us

Voting Party is an initiative established by the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) in 2022, originally to engage more young people to work and vote in the 2022 Federal Election. Voting Party now operates more broadly to engage young people in voting and electoral processes, from local to the federal level.

Voting Party's current project is a joint venture between the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA) and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), and has two goals:

1. To encourage more young people to nominate for local council in the 2023 Local Government Ordinary Elections
2. To encourage more young people to vote in the 2023 Local Government Ordinary Elections

This will be done through running information and mentorship forums for potential nominees, as well as through social media engagement and advertising.
